| NIC to launch four policies
|
| |
|
National Insurance Company Ltd. will launch four products this fiscal to take on competition. Three of these policies would pertain to health insurance while one would be a micro-insurance scheme. One of the health insurance products would be aimed at those below 25 years of age and be launched in June. The remaining two would specifically target senior citizens and the whole family with the scheme for the former slated for a launch in August. NIC would soon seek IRDA approval for the mico-insurance product.

| NIC premium income rises
|

|
National Insurance Company Ltd. has recorded a premium income of Rs 3,810.65 crore. Of this, Rs3,799.91 crore pertains to premium earned in India. It retained the second position in the Indian general insurance industry, registering the highest growth of 12.08%. The profit before tax during 2004-05 stood at Rs141.21 crore compared with Rs73.01 crore in the year-ago period. The claim disposal and policy issuance ratios have also increased from 68.02% to 70% and from 99.23% to 99.56% respectively.
